Testimonials

WHAT HAVE OTHERS SAID ABOUT THEIR EXPERIENCE LEARNING SPANISH?

"The benefits of this class have been tremendous... Any time we asked Anne about things we needed to say specific to our position or school, she made sure we knew how to say them and the key words to listen for in a response. The vocabulary shared was immediately applicable to our work. This course has opened more layers of communication with our families."
- Evelyn G., central office

"I've been trying to learn Spanish literally my entire life and working with Anne is the most progress I've ever made. She was patient, knowledgeable, and helped me learn Spanish I could use in everyday conversations. I would highly recommend working with Anne."
- Lauren P., central office

"I have enjoyed [the course]. I have gotten to see co-workers I normally wouldn't see and gained the ability to have Spanish in common. I have been speaking with more Spanish-speaking students and got complimented on how well I've been doing."
- Audris C., elementary school

"Anne is like the yoga teacher of Spanish. I felt way more confident speaking to [a parent] after just one lesson."
- Molly J., high school
"I feel like it was really exciting to have class. I looked forward to it... [Anne is] an awesome teacher and I would love to attend another class with the group."
- Reauna D., front office

"A large function of my position is knowing and communicating with parents and families. However, there was always a gap in connecting with my Spanish-speaking families... Anne's lessons have helped me increase my confidence and relationships with our Spanish-speaking scholars and families. Her lessons and homework assignments are perfect for people with busy schedules. She never makes you feel like you are behind and instead works to support you where you are. I love that Anne creates SO MANY videos, does live lessons, and more to help us practice and learn what is most relevant in our day-to-day functions first! I am truly grateful for all of her help."
- Briana G., elementary school

"[My Spanish] has evolved greatly. I use it more often and am more determined than before. You're awesome!"
- Ericka T., high school

"This has been so much fun and useful! I have shared [Anne's] teaching strategies with one of our new Spanish teachers."
- Wendy J., central office

How do you want to look back at this school year?

This could be the year that for the first time ever, you start to open doors with Spanish-speaking students and get the delight of better serving Spanish-speaking families.

This could be the year that starts it all. You launch your Spanish skills this spring semester, and come August, you start the year out strong with even better Spanish than what you had in February.

This could be the year that you surprise yourself (and everyone else) with your capacity to learn a much-needed much sought-after skill ... and have a ton of fun doing it.

Is this course right for me?:

Common Concerns

No matter your past experience with Spanish -- good, bad, or never-done-it-befor -- this course is planned with you in mind.
You may doubt yourself because you have never taken Spanish before, or if you did, you never got to the point where you felt conversational. On the other hand, you might wonder if this course is too easy for you because you did pretty well in high school Spanish. This course includes lots of built-in differentiation to allow all students, with a wide range of experiences with Spanish, push to
their next level.

The time commitment is designed to fit your educator life, not the other way around.
If you are concerned whether you have the bandwidth and endurance to make it through the full course, because you know how crazy school gets ... believe me, I get it. I have been a classroom teacher, an administrator, and an ELL teacher and coordinator. I have been a casualty of educator burn-out, and I know how much work it takes to maintain a sense of wellness amidst it all. I have designed this course so that as long as you show up to class, you can build the knowledge you need. If you miss a class, you have a recording. And for those who want to practice between classes for the best results, I don't give homework, but instead focused challenges you can fit to your daily work, which past students have greatly appreciated! I also offer lots of take-or-leave-it supports so you can spend as much or as little time between classes as possible, and still experience a meaningful transformation.

I do encourage participants to come to all six classes live. However, if you miss one, we have a recording available. If you look at the dates and already know you will miss more than two classes, I do encourage you to wait for a different offering.

Together, Languages help you get past your fears so you can speak to real people.
I know you may be worried about making mistakes that accidentally offend someone or make you appear unprofessional in front of the people whose respect you most want to earn. I have been in your shoes, and I promise that we address them head-on so you feel equipped to overcome those fears.

Does your stomach may turn at the thought of attempting your Spanish and having a parent launch into a whole speech in return ... and not being able to understand what they say? You are not alone! We practice listening skills, including listening for key words, and we practice responding to parents to let them know that we are learning, to ask them to slow down, or that we are getting help if it comes to that. After all, the relationship and trust is the goal here.
