After working with immigrant populations in schools for fourteen years as a teacher, school administrator, and district administrator, Anne saw schools rely on people to communicate with multilingual families in the absence of intentional and equitable systems to help people do their jobs well.

Schools on Track 1 require gaining compliance knowledge and foundational pieces in order to begin the process of providing parents with the civil right of access to information from the school. Compliant with federal law? No. Equitable for families? No.
We help schools resolve the gaps in Track 2 and move smoothly and quickly to Target 3, where they want to be.
Schools on Track 2 have the tools to support multilingual communication, but find that they are not consistently used. Most often, multilingual communication lives in a silo, burning out some staff while disempowering the rest. The implementation gaps usually stem from lack of system clarity, pitfalls in training, or a missing accountability cycle. Compliant with federal law? No. Equitable for families? No.

These schools not only have the tools to make this possible, but maintain systems that remove barriers, train staff using best practices, and measure usage against goals in collaborative teams. Anne Truran helps schools, districts, and mission-driven organizations strengthen their multilingual communication systems using a tested framework for getting all staff to use the translation and interpretations resources, so it doesn't fall on the shoulders of just one person or team. It is families' legal right to talk to anyone in the school building, and to have access to trained interpreters at no cost to them. Making use of multilingual communication resources as part of school culture and intentional system is the only way to provide equitable experiences for families and outcomes for kids.
