Your Spanish could change everything for a student who feels invisible.

Go from frozen to friendly.
Because perfect Spanish is not the point.
The way your students and families feel is everything.
ENROLL THIS FALL
You know the moment: A Spanish-speaking family walks up to your desk. A student looks up at you needing something. You reach for your phone, or look around for a bilingual colleague, or do your best and hope.

The interaction happens, but the warmth, and the feeling of I see you, you are safe here, you are loved — doesn't always make it through.

You care deeply, but you're missing the language.

Not fluency. Or years of study. Or a perfectly rolled "r".

Just hyper practical Spanish for your environment at school to say: I'm trying, because your language, your culture, and your whole self matter. You belong here.

That's precisely what Spanish for Relationship-Building is designed for.

What Spanish for Relationship-Building Is and Isn't

This is not a language class that starts with verb conjugations and works its way up to conversations that you maybe, might, possibly some day, when you have enough time, or have the chance to travel ... have with another real live person.

This is six weeks of the Spanish that actually comes up in your building: at dismissal, at pickup, at the front desk, during conferences, in the hallway, in the clinic, on the bus. Classes are taught by an educator who has been in every one of those moments herself ... on the border as well as in her Midwestern hometown.

Every 90-minute session combines school-specific vocabulary, pronunciation practice, and realistic school scenarios, with differentiated support so every participant is pushed to their next level — whether you've never said a word of Spanish in your life or you took four years of it in high school and remember some of it.

Between sessions, you have access to optional weekly challenges, a text hotline for real-time language coaching, and class recordings so you can revisit anything you want to practice again.

NEW: Starting this fall, every participant also gets a free semester in the Spanish for Belonging-Building Community — an ongoing space where you can ask real-time questions as they come up in your school day and receive personalized micro-lesson responses, access a growing library of Spanish video lessons, engage in ongoing learning and practice long after the six weeks are over.

All learning is virtual. Physical materials — including tea and cookies — are shipped to you upon enrollment.

By the end of the six weeks, you will be able to ...

  • Pronounce Spanish words and Spanish heritage names correctly and confidently
  • Welcome students and families into your space — classroom, office, clinic, bus — warmly and graciously, in Spanish
  • Introduce yourself by name and role
  • Ask students and families how they are
  • Give compliments and words of encouragement to students, and share them with caregivers in conversation and in written notes home
  • Say goodbye warmly across a variety of situations — see you tomorrow, have a nice weekend, feel better soon
  • Invite families to special events and communicate the day, date, and time
  • Ask simple questions and make simple statements
  • Listen for key words so you can follow along even when you don't catch everything
  • Respond productively and professionally when you don't understand — without freezing, without grabbing your phone
  • Use school-appropriate terms of endearment with students
  • Speak Spanish with a real person every single day
This course is for you if you work in a school — in any role.
Teachers. Secretaries. School nurses. Bus drivers. Principals. Instructional coaches. Registrars. Counselors. Assistant superintendents. Substitutes.
If you interact with Spanish-speaking students or families — even occasionally, even briefly — this course will change those interactions.

What Educators Are Saying:

"I was talking to one of my students in Spanish practicing new ways to greet them and she said, 'Mrs. Noseff, you are talking to me in my language. You are doing so good. Thank you!!!!'"
— Deanna N., Kindergarten Teacher, St. Louis, MO

"Your class gave me the courage to advocate for our Spanish parents recently in our department. We are now implementing Spanish language phone calls when our buses are significantly delayed — before, only English was sent out."
— George C., Bus Driver, Illinois (pseudonym at his request)
Hear directly from past participants:

"The vocabulary shared was immediately applicable to our work. This course has opened more layers of communication with our families."

— Evelyn G., Director of Professional Learning

"It does create more vulnerability and a culture of belonging."
— Sierra C., Assistant Principal, St. Louis, MO

"In six weeks, I gained more proficiency in Spanish than I anticipated."
— Becca R., ELL Teacher, St. Louis, MO

Common Concerns

I've never taken Spanish before / I was terrible at Spanish in school.
This course is designed for all levels — from complete beginners to people who took years of Spanish and remember almost none of it. Every session includes differentiated practice so you're pushed to your next level, not your neighbor's. Past students with zero Spanish background have left six weeks later using it with real students and families.
I don't have time for homework.
There is no homework. There are optional weekly challenges designed to fit into your actual school day — practice that happens in the hallway, at pickup, in the office. If you can show up to class, you can build the skills you need.
What if I miss a class?
All sessions are recorded. If you already know you'll miss more than two classes, I'd encourage you to wait for a future offering — but one or two absences won't derail your progress.
What if a parent starts speaking rapid Spanish and I can't keep up?
We practice this directly. You'll learn how to listen for key words, how to let a family know you're learning, how to ask them to slow down, and how to get help when you need it — all in a way that feels warm and professional rather than awkward.
I'm worried about making mistakes in front of families.
We address this head-on. Making mistakes in front of students and families is not the risk you think it is — it's actually one of the most powerful belonging signals you can send. When you try, they notice. When you're imperfect and keep trying anyway, they see themselves in you.

About Anne

Anne Truran founded Together, Language in 2018 after eleven years of working in and alongside schools as a teacher and instructional leader. She began her career teaching all content areas of first grade in Spanish to native Spanish speakers on the southern border, later taught Spanish immersion and bilingual intervention, and has spent years supporting multilingual family engagement across the Midwest and beyond.

Anne's relationship with Spanish is not merely academic. She raises her two sons bilingually in Spanish, has lived for extended periods in Latin America, and has spent 23 years in relationship with Spanish-speaking communities. When she created Spanish for Relationship-Building, she reflected on the gaps that years of formal Spanish study had still left her with — the school-specific vocabulary, the real-scenario practice, the confidence to actually use it when a family was standing right in front of her.

She built this course so you don't have to figure that out the hard way.

Spanish for Relationship-Building exists to let more educators in.
